RCAT Residential Roofing License:

Believe it or not, the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation does NOT currently administer licensure for roofing contractors. Anyone can call themselves a roofer in Texas and they are not required to be knowledgeable, insured, licensed, or even registered with the state. Roofing is a highly skilled trade, and the roof is structurally the most important component protecting the contents and integrity of the home or business! Texas residents deserve a higher standard so the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor program was developed to increase consumer protection and secure public confidence in the roofing industry by elevating the roofing contractor’s knowledge and professionalism through voluntary self-regulation.

In order to be a licensed roofing contractor under the Roofing Contractor’s Association of Texas, the contractor must:

Pass a business, safety and roofing knowledge exam with a score of 70% or better.
Submit satisfactory evidence of the roofing company’s financial responsibility.
Provide evidence of adequate liability insurance.
Provide evidence of Worker’s Compensation Insurance or proof of a filing with the State of Texas form DWC Form 005, Employer Notice of No Coverage or Termination of Coverage as required by law. Note: Green Knight® carries Workers’ Compensation Insurance.

Green Knight® has met all of the stated requirements and is a licensed Residential Roofing Contractor through the Roofing Contractor’s Association of Texas.

Metal Roofing Alliance Qualified Contractor:

The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) is a trade organization focused on promoting the benefits of metal roofing and educating consumers on the subject. The MRA also sponsors a Qualified Contractor program whereby they promote contractors who have met specific standards. Green Knight® is not only a member of the MRA Qualified Contractor program, we’ve also won their prestigious “Best Metal Roofing Project” Award!

Metal Construction Association:

The mission of the Metal Construction Association is to promote the use of metal in the building envelope through marketing, education, and action on public policies that affect metal’s use.

HAAG Certified Inspector:

In the roofing and insurance industries, the phrase “HAAG Certified” carries a lot of weight. It indicates a higher level of education in the identification of storm damage and that certificants can effectively and efficiently inspect and assess damage. HAAG report conclusions have a deeper level of credibility.

Several Green Knight® team members have completed the HAAG Residential Certification program and annually meet the continuing education requirements required by HAAG. Certified Installer of Sheffield Metals International Engineered Metal Roof Systems:

Sheffield Metals International (here after “SMI”) certifies that the above installer company is certified to install all SMI Roof Systems and as such has access to all Weathertight Warranties, including workmanship and materials, provided by SMI when using SMI products. Under the terms of this certification the company will guarantee at the company’s own expense a two year, consecutive twenty-four month leak free roof on the SMI Roof System that was installed. Let it be known that the installers and the company are not SMI agents, employees, contractors, or representatives. This certification must be renewed one year from the date of issue.

Award-Winning Hyperbolic Parabolic Double Lock Standing Seam Metal Roof

Because we at Green Knight® Metal Roofing are metal roofing specialists, we were approached by an award-winning architecture firm, Bercy Chen Studios, to install a signature metal roof with a very unusual design. The homeowner, and the architecture firm were both very concerned about hiring a company that would be qualified to take on this project.

Green Knight consulted with the homeowner and Thomas Bercy to assure all needs were met. Specifically, the house sits at the bottom of a hill so the roof is the first part of the home that can be seen upon approach. Thus, the aesthetics had to be perfect. Additionally, because of the hyperbolic parabolic design, oil canning and water tightness were both major concerns. Green Knight® solved these problems by installing narrower panels so that the twists in the roof would not cause too much strain on the panel faces, or on the seams. Finally, on-site, custom roll forming and meticulous seaming of the panels were performed. The result? A signature roof that has won the Prestigious Chairman’s Award, given by the Metal Construction Association and the Metal Roofing Alliance’s Award for Metal Roof of the Quarter.

This project, and these awards show that the specialists of Green Knight® Metal roofing have the skill and expertise to handle any metal roofing project; from very simple “up and over” roofs to the ultimate in complexity.
